Three handwritten letters to the American actor James Dean (1931-1955) wrote to his girlfriend Barbara Glenn in the 50's were auctioned at Christie's in London for a total of 26,034 euros .
The letters, which were presented in three different lots were purchased by phone by a single unidentified buyer, whose bid exceeded the estimated price of 18,600 euros each, said a spokeswoman for the auction house.
The letters, in which Dean describes his experiences on Broadway (theater district of New York) or expressing his loneliness, came from the family archives of Barbara Glenn, with whom the actor left for two years.
In one, written on January 10, 1954-the year before his death in car accident from a hotel in Philadelphia, actor refers to the tests for the Broadway adaptation of The Immoralist , a show that considers crap, but which predicts will likely be a huge success.
In fact, he received critical acclaim opened doors in his career. And a few weeks, he moved to Los Angeles, home of the American movie industry.
In another letter, written in May of that year, while filming East of Eden , his first starring role, Dean complains that Barbara, a young aspiring actress, has agreed a contract to pose in a swimsuit, "That's sold cheap" .
In the third letter joked that their relationship may be about to break when he said, "Honey, I have not written because I love." However, it only refers to his horse 'Cisco the kid'.
And, after explaining how alone you feel in that same letter, he thanks her most beautiful cards and candies in the world. As indicated by Christie's, the couple may have met through a mutual friend, actor Martin Landau, in New York.
Glenn's son, filmmaker Keith Gordon, who put the letters up for sale, previously said he hoped the buyer of the lot would enjoy the charts as much as her mother did to deepen the love story.
"They were just starting out and struggling young actors together. She never spoke of his affair in detail, but I knew that Jimmy was their first serious and mature," he said then. "Apparently there was very intense and many ruptures and reconciliations, but she remained his confidante even in times of separation," he added.
Finally, the actress broke up with Dean and joined the actor and director Mark Gordon, father of Keith, with the blessing of Jimmy, who, like her, knew that their relationship was too full of drama to be never stable, according to your child.

At the auction, dedicated to the world of film and entertainment, the most prized item is a Stormtrooper uniform Wars awarded for 205,250 pounds (237,474 euros).
